Accounting Manager

Atrilogy’s direct client is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their collaborative team. This is a full-time, and direct hire. Hybrid REMOTE (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)!

Under minimal supervision, provides strategic and operational leadership for accounting team.  Plans, leads, coaches, and develops associates to meet the company’s goals and objectives. Manages the accounting functions within the parameters of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the financial services policies and procedures.  Ensures the team provides exceptional and efficient service to all Associates.

  • Identifies strategies and executes tactics that support and contribute to the financial services strategic plan, vision, and core values.
  • Working in conjunction with VP Controller and the Accounting Team who creates, updates and monitors Accounting Team Vision, Mission, KPI’s, and roadmaps.
  • Assists in the preparation of the company’s Annual Report and related accounting schedules.
  • Efficiently manages the operations of the accounting department.
  • Ensures the maintenance of an accurate general ledger through analyses, reconciliation, and balancing.  
  • Manages/prepares the preparation of quarterly NCUA 5300 Call Report and related schedules.
  • Implements and maintains proper accounting procedures and strong internal controls to detect and correct errors.
  • Supervises month end closing in a timely and accurate manner and assists the VP Controller in performing the month end close and related accounting accruals to ensure all financial services deadlines are met and accounting information is presented in accordance with GAAP.   
  • Working knowledge of Financial Services.  Examples include money movement, loans, loan sales and purchases, investment sales and purchases, fixed assets, and accounts payable processing.
  • Effectively communicate with other departments and Branches in regards to accounting questions and informational requests by phone or email. 
  • Assists in working with the external and internal auditors regarding the year-end audit, operational and regulatory audits.  
  • Undertakes continuous self-development of both functional and leadership skills.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s or Associates College degree with emphasis in accounting and/or equivalent courses.
  • 3 to 5 years accounting management experience preferably in a financial institution, plus at least one - two years of supervisory experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Dynamics Great Plains general ledger software, Symitar Deposit and Loan Processing system or similar financial services loan and deposit servicing systems.
  • Must have working knowledge of accounting principles, terminology, accounting cycles, general and subsidiary ledgers, month end closing process, accounting for loan sales, accounting for investment securities purchases and sales, financial statements, bank reconciliations, loan and deposit accounting, accruals, fixed assets, accounts receivables and payables, ACH, ATM, and Fedline functions.
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations as they relate to financial services operations.
  • Knowledge of financial services rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing and excellent telephone manner.  Has strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to speak and hear to give and receive instructions and information to others in person and over the telephone. Other language skills helpful.
  • Must have personal computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft programs at an intermediate skill level.
  • Ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate reliable records.
  • Requires good memory, knowledge retention skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize projects and duties effectively.
  • Requires excellent follow-through skills, member relations skills, and sound business judgment.
  • Ability to interface in with others in a positive and professional manner.
  • Goal-oriented with a desire to work in a fast-paced and results-driven environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and be self-directed when necessary as well as the ability to work and accomplish goals in a team environment.
